Workshop Types

Busy Crawlers

  • Age: 6 - 12 months
  • Up to 10 weeks, 45 minutes each session

You learn how easy it is to incorporate signs into your daily routine, suitable for this age group, and how to get started. You learn approximately 30 signs and 8 nursery rhymes. This is specifically for new parents or nursery staff.

Busy Bees

  • Age: 12 - 24 months
  • 3 sessions: 45 minutes each

You will learn additional signs for your daily routine, suitable for this age group, and how to maximise communication without increased frustration. This is specifically for parents with children aged over 12 months and for anyone who works with this age group.

Little Monkeys

  • Age: 2 – 3 years old
  • 3 sessions: 45 minutes each

The children will have fun and lively sessions, involving several guessing games for animal signs, sing and sign songs, and practice facial expressions. Action word games are played and signing boards are used to identify signs for colours, food and drinks. The workshops promote active learning for the children and the nursery workers are encouraged to join in.

  

Queen Bees

  • Age: nursery/preschool staff
  • Duration: One hour
  • 3 sessions only

Teachers and nursery workers are introduced to the benefits of signing and the supporting research. An awareness of effective communication (body language) is also introduced.

Queen Bees Follow up

  • Age: nursery/preschool staff
  • 2 visits (45 minutes each) over 2 months

Our visit to nurseries involves monitoring the development of signing skills amongst the staff, setting up signs for the children that will enhance their language. Instruction is provided with playful learning equipment and helpful recommendations.

Presentation

  • Duration: Up to 2 hours

We visit and give a talk to a large group, offering tips and advice as well as displaying simple signs. This is suitable for antenatal classes, child-minding associations, organisations, etc.

Head Hunter

  • Age: nursery/pre school children aged up to 5
  • One term - 10 weeks - 45 minutes each

Children aged 3 - 5 learn the signs in an innovative and enjoyable way. English words, stories and songs are signed and games used. These workshops come from Sign and Bond BSL curriculum/ standardisation and Early Years Foundation curriculum.
